conflict
A state of affairs in which two or more parties claim possession of something not all can have simultaneously. E.g., value conflicts, conflicts of interest, territorial conflicts. All social systems contain conflicts and their definition and resolution marks social development ( see morphogenesis , paradox , game theory ). ( Krippendorff )
