Network

system of channel S, communication links, paths of information flows, roads, etc., resembling a fabric or wiring diagram and describable as a graph. (Krippendorff )
In a wider sense, several computers, edp systems, electronic information systems or any combination thereof linked to each other by technical communication lines permitting data transmission. In a narrower sense, a network can be defined as a specific set of communication services along with the HARD- and software necessary to provide these services. In this case the network itself is to be distinguished from the terminals or computer systems of the endusers. (Hornung )
