Error Correcting Code
A encoding code which correctly identifies messages that contain transmission errors of up to a certain number per message without the ability to correct them. A code is error detecting only is the hamming distance between the messages sent exceeds the number of transmission errors per message (see redundancy, error correcting code ). (Krippendorff )
